Idaho State University to present Melanie Melendrez to discuss Zika and other diseases

POCATELLO—The Department of Biological Sciences at Idaho State University has invited guest speaker Melanie Melendrez to speak about Zika and other viruses that have been in the news recently.

The presentation will be Feb. 18 at 4 p.m. in Lecture Center 10 on the Idaho State University campus.

Melendrez is chief bioinformatics, lead scientist and viral disease branch manager for the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research. Her presentation is titled “The Explosion of Zika, the Ebb and Flow of Dengue: The Shadow Games of Influenza.” The event is free and open to students of Idaho State University and the public.
