Idaho State University art department to host third annual Art a la Carte event on Feb. 18

February 8, 2016 by ISU Marketing and Communications

POCATELLO – Idaho State University’s Department of Art will hold its third annual Art a la Carte event on Feb. 18 from 5 to 8 p.m. to help raise money for scholarships and visiting artists. The event includes a chili feed and silent art auction.

The main event’s silent auction will allow participants to bid on art made by students, professors and alumni. Items being auctioned off include jewelry, prints, sculptures, paintings and embroidery. Examples include art professors Scott Evans’ print collages, Naomi Adams’ natural silk dye silk scarves and Laura Ahola-Young’s paintings.

“The art we auction off truly is amazing,” Ahola-Young said. “We have very talented students, faculty and alumni, and we love to see the art taken home for people to appreciate.”

There will also be art demonstrations going on in studios and other studios will be open for tours.

“This is a great chance for us to show off our art department and what we can do,” said Adams.

The event will be held in ISU’s Fine Arts Building on the fourth floor. The chili feed costs $6 for a bowl of chili, or three samples, including a drink and cornbread. Attending the silent auction is free.
