POCATELLO — The Idaho State University Symphony Association has announced its Valentine’s Day celebration concert and dinner will be held Feb. 12 in the Stephens Performing Arts Center.
Festivities will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the inviting ambience of the Rotunda with a no-host beverage bar, followed by the buffet dinner at 6 p.m. Tickets for the dinner are $40 and concert ticket prices are listed below.
“We’ll enjoy the company of friends and a special meal in delightful surroundings, then experience a first-class musical performance in the Jensen Grand Concert Hall at 7:30 p.m.,” Rayna Valentine said.
As always, singles, couples and groups are welcome to attend the dinner, but seating is limited and reservations must be made in advance by calling Valentine at 208-233-7081. If guests have other dinner arrangements, they may still enjoy the concert performance by purchasing tickets through the Idaho State University Box Office at 282-3595 or Vickers Western Stores at 237-5700.
This first concert of the New Year showcases some new music and includes two premiere performances, the world premiere of Thom Hasenpflug’s Percussion Concerto “Four Mischiefs,” and under the New Music for America commissioning program, an authorized regional premiere of Christopher Theofanidis’ “Dreamtime Ancestors.”
Rounding out the evening’s selections will be Jennifer Higdon’s ethereal, hauntingly beautiful “Blue Cathedral,” and “Mothership,” by Mason Bates, Composer-in-Residence of the Chicago Symphony. All four pieces reflect this year’s “Elysium” theme.
Ticket prices for the concert only are $34 per adult, $18 for students through high school and $12 for third-tier balcony. A limited number of $18 RUSH tickets (seating in Rows T-CC assigned by the Box Office as available) will be sold after 7:00 p.m. concert night. All prices are subject to additional box office fees and credit card charges. Idaho State University students with valid Bengal identification are admitted free. Please contact the ISU Box Office at 282-3595 or Vickers Western Store, 1460 Yellowstone, 237-5700, for tickets and information.
