POCATELLO – All those interested are invited to attend the Aug. 18 potluck picnic meeting of the Pocatello Branch of the American Association of University Women at Caldwell Park, on the corner of Eighth Avenue and Lewis Street, starting at 6 p.m.
Participants are invited to bring a dish to share, a preferred drink, and a folding chair if possible; plates, forks and napkins will be provided. The main agenda item will be planning for the branch’s annual used book sale to be held in ISU’s Reed Gymnasium foyer on Sept. 24, 25 and 26. The group will also discuss the schedule for the upcoming year and its application for an AAUW Tech Savvy grant.
The group is still seeking book donations in preparation for its book sale fundraiser. Please leave donations in the wooden box in the entrance to the ISU Continuing Education Building located at 1001 N. Seventh St. near City Hall during business hours on weekdays. AAUW does not accept magazines, textbooks, Reader’s Digest Condensed Books, or Harlequin (or similar) romances; please do not leave any such books at the drop box. All other hardbound and paperback books are appreciated. A selection of used books is available for sale at the Pocatello Co-op on an ongoing basis. Proceeds from book sales are used for AAUW educational/career workshops.
The AAUW mission is to advance equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research. Membership is open to anyone holding an associate or equivalent, baccalaureate or higher degree from a regionally accredited college or university. New members may join for half price at the meeting.
Idaho State University is an institutional partner of the Pocatello Branch and students enrolled at ISU are eligible to receive a free e-Student Affiliate membership. For more information, contact Linda Leeuwrik at 226-6245 or email@example.com.
