ISU Health Fair 2015 March 19-20 features more than 70 health learning centers; walk-in blood draws available

The Idaho State University Health Fair 2015 – celebrating its 34th year – is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday and Friday, March 19-20, in the Pond Student Union Ballroom. Parking is free in the Pond Student Union parking lot.

This year’s fair will feature more than 70 learning centers, blood draws and comprehensive health screenings and informational services on a variety of topics. [Read more…]

Louis Pirro art works on display in Idaho State University Oboler Library

The Eli M. Oboler Library at Idaho State University is pleased to announce a new exhibit of paintings by Louis Pirro, named “Patterns in the Void.” The art will be displayed from February 1 through April 30, 2015, in the art exhibit area on the 1st floor.

Exhibition of French prints of the First World War by ISU professor Stover runs Feb. 2-20

Justin Dolan Stover, an Idaho State University assistant history professor, will host an exhibition of contemporary French prints of the First World War, which he collected during his trip to France.

The exhibition, “Les Miseres de la Guerre: French perspectives of the First World War” will run Feb. 2-20 with an exhibit launch and discussion on Thursday, Feb. 12 from 5 to 6 p.m. at the John B. Davis Gallery in the Fine Arts Building on the Pocatello campus. [Read more…]

‘Muslim/American, American/Muslim’ exhibit to open Jan. 12 at Idaho State University Davis Gallery; Opening reception Jan. 20

The “Muslim/American, American/Muslim” exhibit will open in Idaho State University’s John B. Davis Gallery on Jan. 12 and run until Jan. 30.

There will be an opening reception on Jan. 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. where photographer Robert Gerhardt will give a lecture on his photographs. [Read more…]

Two Idaho State University art professors use Wyoming shows to help recruit students

Idaho State University art professors Laura Ahola-Young and Naomi Adams will hold three art shows in Wyoming to help recruit students to take art classes at ISU.

“Part of our goal of these shows was to talk to students about our programs at ISU,” said Adams. “It can help them learn what we are about and the number of concentrations we have for a small department.” [Read more…]

Volunteers needed for the 2014 Idaho State University Haunted Science Lab

For the last three years, the ISU Society of Physics Students, the Kiwanis Club of Pocatello, and the ISU Department of Physics have hosted a Haunted Science Laboratory exhibit open to field trips from local schools, free of charge.

Volunteers from ISU and the Kiwanis Club have provided educational, engaging, spooky science fun with interactive science exhibits and activities. The Kiwanis Club has also reimbursed schools for busing costs. However, additional help is needed to ensure that this year’s exhibitions are a success. [Read more…]

Smithsonian traveling exhibition at Idaho State University celebrates Asian Pacific American history

The Idaho Museum of Natural History will open its new Smithsonian exhibit titled “I Want the Wide American Earth: An Asian Pacific American Story” on Sept. 20 and it will run through Nov. 30.

This exhibit was created by the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center and the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES). The exhibition is supported by a grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundations. [Read more…]
