Opera Idaho to perform Mozart’s ‘The Magic Flute’ Nov. 6 at the Idaho State University Stephens Performing Arts Center

POCATELLO — Opera Idaho will be in Pocatello to perform Mozart’s “The Magic Flute” in Idaho State University Jensen Grand Concert Hall of the Stephens Performing Arts Center on Friday, Nov. 6, at 7:30 p.m.

“‘The Magic Flute’ is such a great introduction to opera, especially for children, and that’s actually one of the things I hope to see,” said Diana Livingston Friedley, professor of vocal studies at ISU. “This is a very family-friendly show, so families, bring your kids to this opera. If you’ve never gone to a musical, if you’ve never been to an opera, this is the one to bring them to because it’s so kid friendly.” [Read more…]

Idaho State Civic Symphony’s Halloween Spooktacular will be a treat for the whole family Oct. 31

POCATELLO— Idaho State Civic Symphony’s annual Halloween Spooktacular, a family concert and musical fair, is set Oct. 31 in the Stephen’s Performing Arts Center.

Attendees are encouraged to dress up as their favorite character and bring children in their Halloween costumes. During this mid-day event, participants can enjoy games, activities, costumes and live music that consists of a more upbeat tempo. Halloween Spooktacular is family oriented Halloween event. David Archuleta Christmas tickets go on sale Oct. 23 for Dec. 15 performance at ISU Stephens Center


POCATELLO – Idaho State University will present a David Archuleta Christmas performance Dec.15 at 7:30 p.m. at the Stephens Performing Arts Center. Tickets go on sale Oct. 23.

Archuleta was the runner-up on the seventh season of American Idol when he was only 16. Soon after, the young Utah native signed with Jive Records and his first single “Crush,” debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart the week of its release. His self-titled album “David Archuleta” went gold, selling more than 750,000 copies in the United States, and more than 900,000 worldwide. [Read more…]

POCATELLO — Foghat will perform at Idaho State University Oct. 15 at 7:30 p.m. in the Stephens Performing Arts Center in Jensen Grand Hall as part of ISU’s “Season of Note.”

“We love playing up there,” said Bryan Bassett, lead and slide guitarist of the band. “It’s one of my personal favorites parts of the world we hope to have a nice relaxed evening of rock and roll. We are looking forward to it.” [Read more…]

Idaho State University 2015 Mountain West Marching Band Invitational set Oct. 10

POCATELLO – Idaho State University’s Marching Band will perform and 18 high school bands from Idaho, Utah, Nevada and Wyoming will compete in the Mountain West Marching Band Invitational on Oct. 10 at Holt Arena.

The competition runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the ISU Marching Band will close the show at 2:45 p.m. with their performance of music by the English rock band, Muse. An awards ceremony will begin at 3 p.m. [Read more…]

POCATELLO – Idaho State University’s A Season of Note series will present rock ‘n’ roll band Foghat on Oct. 15 and singer Melissa Manchester Oct. 22 at Stephens Performing Arts Center, Jensen Grand Concert Hall.

Both concerts will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Foghat has been together for 43 years singing rock ‘n’ roll, boogie and blues, with Roger Earl playing drums throughout. The band still tours relentlessly because they love to play, which is evident in the passion and fun they have onstage during their live performances. [Read more…]

Idaho State Civic Symphony to hold first concert of the season Sept. 26, features violinist Stephanie Chase

POCATELLO – The Idaho State-Civic Symphony will welcome guest violinist Stephanie Chase for its season opener Tchaikovsky: Violin Concerto on Sept. 26 in the Idaho State University Stephens Performing Arts Center’s Jensen Grand Concert Hall.

Chase is a world-class violinist who has been recognized by her elegance and imagination, stunning power and matchless technique by the “Boston Globe,” Louisville “Courier-Journal” and “BBC Music Magazine.” She has performed in solo performances in more than 170 orchestras including the New York and Hong Kong Philharmonics, and also the Chicago, San Francisco, Atlanta, Baltimore and London Symphony Orchestras. She has also performed in 25 countries around the world.

The symphony will play music from Tchaikovsky’s “Violin Concerto in D Major,” Berlioz’s “Roman Carnival Overture” and Grieg’s “Peer Gynt Suites.” [Read more…]
