Idaho State University encouraging students to ‘Be Advised’ for the spring 2014 semester; sessions run Nov. 11-18

Idaho State University is encouraging students to “Be Advised” prior to class-level registration, which begins in mid-November for the spring 2014 semester.

“Students benefit by receiving regular advising,” said JoAnn Hertz, director of ISU Central Academic Advising. “Interaction with professional advisors who explain the curriculum requirements and policies of the university as well as with departmental faculty who are experts in their field provides an advantage to any student who seeks it.” [Read more…]

Idaho State Alumni Association Board of Directors welcomes seven new members and new board president

The Idaho State University Alumni Association Board of Directors welcomed seven new directors at their annual Homecoming meeting in October.

New members are Ryan J. Sargent, Pocatello; Dustin Mortimer, Boise;
Joshua C. Whitworth, Boise; Jamie L. Bell, Pocatello; Gregory N. Bosen, Idaho Falls; Craig D. Hobdey, Gooding; and Debbie L. Thompson, Pocatello.

Idaho State University Debate takes second in parliamentary debate competition

Idaho State University sophomores Samantha Bollinger and Andrew Hoth took second place in the Junior Varsity division at the Lewis and Clark Debate Tournament in Portland, Ore., on the weekend of Oct. 12-13.

Bollinger was recognized as the top speaker at the tournament, while Hoth was recognized as the third speaker. [Read more…]

Idaho State University dance concert ‘Bare Bones’ set Oct. 31, Nov. 1, 2 and 4

The Idaho State University School of Performing Arts dance program will present “Bare Bones: Dance ISU in Concert” on Oct. 31, Nov. 1, 2, and 4 at 7:30 p.m. inside the Bistline Theatre at the Stephens Performing Arts Center. A 2 p.m. show will be held in the Bistline Theatre on Nov. 2 featuring local children from The Leavitt Center. [Read more…]

Idaho State University to host Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions Nov. 16; four ISU students auditioning

Idaho State University will host the Metropolitan Opera National Council district audition, which is the preliminary tryout for the most prestigious opera company in the United States, on Nov. 16.

The auditions, open to public, will be held Saturday, Nov. 16, beginning at 10 a.m., in the Joseph C. and Cheryl H. Jensen Grand Concert Hall of the L.E. and Thelma E. Stephens Performing Arts Center. [Read more…]
