Participants in ISU sleep study receive $25 for screening, and up to $240; Families with children 8 to 12 needed

Idaho State University researchers are looking for families with children 8 to 12 from throughout Southeast Idaho to participate in a study concerning sleep habits and social behaviors.

ISU psychology Professor Maria Wong and colleagues are conducting a study focusing on how sleep disturbances in children can affect behavior and cognitive performance.

The researchers will examine the sleep patterns, habits and architecture of biological children of both non-drinking and alcohol-using parents. Activities include interviews, questionnaires, cognitive tests, wearing an activity watch and sleep assessment.

Results of the study will lead to practical information on the relationship between sleep problems and academic performance, social relationships and substance use, with implications for prevention and early intervention.

Participants can earn up to $240 if they are eligible for the study and $25 for an initial screening session.

To schedule a confidential screening for the study call 208-228-5577 or email isusleepstudy@gmail.com. Privacy and confidentiality are guaranteed.
