Chrome in the Dome celebrates 10-year anniversary in style; features world-renowned automotive painter Charley Hutton, drag racer Ed Jones

POCATELLO—This year marks the 10-year anniversary for the Chrome in the Dome car show put on by the Idaho State University College of Technology March 18 from 2 to 9 p.m. and March 19 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. in Holt Arena.

The family-friendly event features more than 135 car and trucks on display and about 25 motorcycles. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Country music star Aaron Tippin promises a fun country night at Idaho State University

POCATELLO — Aaron Tippin will appear with Terri Clark Feb. 25 at 7:30 p.m. at the Idaho State University Stephens Performing Arts Center.

“Come have a good time. I try to bring a good time with me and share it with everybody,” Tippin said. “I’m always looking for something cool, interesting, wild and different to happen at the show.”

Ed “The Outlaw” Jones, famous wheel-stander, looks forward to Chrome in the Dome

POCATELLO— Ed “The Outlaw” Jones, professional wheel-stander, and his wife, Wendy, have been traveling both nationally and internationally around the globe for 40 years. As part of Ed’s 40-year career anniversary as a professional driver, they are making an appearance at Idaho State University’s Chrome in The Dome car show March 18 and 19 for its 10-year anniversary. Idaho State University 115th anniversary Founder’s Day Celebration set March 11; community is invited to free barbecue, history tour

POCATELLO – In celebration of Idaho State University’s 115th anniversary, a Founder’s Day Celebration will be held on Friday, March 11, at noon on the Hutchinson Quadrangle.

After the clock tower plays the ISU Fight Song, the 1901 Student Alumni Organization will announce the 2016 class gift, the Bengal Eyes. After the announcement, a free community barbecue, history tour of campus and prize drawing will be held.

Largest snake in history to open at Idaho Museum of Natural History

POCATELLO — Slithering in at 48 feet long and weighing an estimated 1.5 tons, a realistic replica of Titanoboa, the world’s largest snake, will open at the Idaho Museum of Natural History (IMNH) at Idaho State University March 19.

On March 19, the IMNH will host family friendly activities from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to coincide with the opening of the new exhibit “Titanoboa: Monster Snake,” a Smithsonian Traveling Exhibition Service exhibit. Activities will include bubble snakes, snake mobiles, sleeping bag snake races and cold blooded activities. Activities are free in the museum’s Discovery Room, while Titanoboa can be seen in the gallery with payment of admission. Idaho State University’s 2016 Early Registration event set April 5-8

POCATELLO– Idaho State University’s incoming freshmen and their parents are invited to participate in the 2016 early registration events scheduled from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 5-8 in the Pond Student Union.

Intrepid Idaho State University doctoral student Ariana Tart-Zelvin aims to change a state of mind

POCATELLO—Idaho State University psychology doctoral student Ariana Tart-Zelvin has completed a dissertation study to better understand what brain areas are active when healthy adults use a cognitive strategy on a working memory task.

“Working memory is a personal research interest of mine and numerous clinical populations suffer from working memory impairments,” Tart-Zelvin said. “You see impairment in working memory across different diagnosis. For example epilepsy patients, Parkinson’s patients, MS (multiple sclerosis), OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder) and ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) patients all have trouble with their working memory.” [Read more…] about Intrepid Idaho State University doctoral student Ariana Tart-Zelvin aims to change a state of mind

ISU College of Arts and Letters students gain real-world work experience by collaborating with local organizations

POCATELLO – Students attend college to receive an education to use in their future career, but Idaho State University Professor Karen Hartman believes that you must take your education one step further – gaining real world work experience.
This semester, students in her Public Relations Programs class, part of the Department of Communication, Media, and Persuasion, are collaborating with the Idaho State-Civic Symphony and the Idaho State Department of Labor Volunteer to Career program to help gain this experience. ISU College of Education to hold Future Teachers Day March 9

Idaho Academy of Science and Engineering annual meeting, Intermountain Conference on the Environment set March 31-April 2 at ISU

POCATELLO- The 58th Idaho Academy of Science and Engineering Annual Meeting and Symposium will meet jointly with the 16th Intermountain Conference on the Environment March 31-April 2 at the Idaho State University Pond Student Union.

The theme is “Pursuing New Knowledge Frontiers.”

Every year, the academy provides a multi-day symposium hosted by one of the member institutions. Speakers address issues of current interest. Researchers and students present papers and posters on a wide variety of scientific and technological topics.
